Block Island for just 1 night

We are looking to stay in BI for one night in July or August. Does anyone know of a hotel without a minimum stay?

Block Island for just 1 night

If you are looking for a weekend night, then unfortunately most of the hotels %26amp; B%26amp;B%26#39;s require minimum stays of at least 2 nights. During the week you should be able to get a one night stay just about anywhere.

However, if you are looking for the weekend, and only can stay one night, then my advice to you would be to wait until the week before or possibly even the week of the night you want to stay and call then. Most times, the hotels and/or B%26amp;B%26#39;s if they have an opening, will take you for one night instead of losing out on renting the room all together. Also, you may get lucky that with the current state of the economy, some places might book you for one night now. Unlikely, but possible.

The Barn at Schooner Point

Does anyone have any info on the Barn at Schooner Point on Block Island?

Car Service/Limo to Newport from Boston or Providence

Car Service/Limo to Newport from Boston or Providence

Car Service/Limo to Newport from Boston or Providence

Bachelor Party

I was looking for recommendations on things to do/ places to go for a bachelor party at the end of July.

We rented a house near Atlantic Beach Club and understand that that is a good day drinking spot. We are looking for a good restaurant to have a big dinner saturday then some good night spots for the single guys on the trip...

Bars? with mostly women...

Activiteies? Fishing charters... boat rentals? is it easy to rent a boat in Newport?

Bachelor Party

Yes, the Atlantic Beach Club ';The ABC'; is packed for daytime activities on the summer weekends. You%26#39;ll find out where everyone is planning to go that night. Thee usual haunts for the younger crowd (20 somethings are The Landing, Rhino Bar, O%26#39;Briens, The Pelham, The Dockside. For 30 somethings, The West Deck (now known as @the Deck) O%26#39;Brien%26#39;s, Cooke House, Newport Blues Cafe)

Depending on your budget and size of party....for Dinner try Brick Alley, Red Parrot, Salvation Cafe, Yesterdays, Griswald%26#39;s, The Mooring, Cooke House.

Renting a boat on your own isn%26#39;t very common in Newport, but there might be some...mostly they do charters, either fishing or sailing....check out: www.gonewport.com for lots of links

Bachelor Party

Good info and advice as always by milemarker. I used to hang out at the ABC and always had a great time there.

Here%26#39;s a couple links for charters and boat rentals. The jet ski and boat rentals require ';some boating experience'; in order to rent. What that entails, who knows. Yuo%26#39;ll have to contact them. I couldn%26#39;t help but notice how expensive the charters and rentals are..WOW!

For an upscale bar/club try Studio 3 above the Pelham. It%26#39;s a younger crowd. Cover to the Rhino Bar gets you into the Mambo room too- which is like the dance club side of the place.

After reading more postings I am beginning to believe that milemarker is actually the whole chamber of commerce... great responses, thanks!

No, just love my town...and like to help the visitors that bring in money. Now if there WAS a way I could make money on this....LOL. Have fun!

Bachelorette in Newport

Hi - I am organizing a bachelorette weekend in Newport July 2009. We are late 20s, early 30s. Can you recommend fun bars to go to on a Sat night. Love live music and a crowd that is more our age, not too young, not too old. Also, any restaurant recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks!

Karla

For Live music, the Rhino Bar, The Pelham, the Dockside.

The Newport Blues Cafe is a slightly older crowd 30+ usually.

Fifth Element would be a good choice for dinner and some drinks.

Other good stops but usually not Live music...DJ%26#39;s

West Deck, Sambar, H20, Obrien%26#39;s, Gas Lamp, Buskers, Cooke House, Smoke House etc...

Check back closer to the summer and I%26#39;ll let you know if any new hot spots open up...

  • Cliff Walk Plan - Help

My wife %26amp; I were hoping to take the bus from the Gateway Center and exit at Ochre Pt (Stop #3) and hopefully be able to enter the cliff walk from that area. We would walk the area between Ruggles and Narraganset and then catch the return bus from near that same area (Stop #7).

Question is: can we enter the walk from that area?

yes. For more info and maps, check out:

Thanks. I had looked at the maps it but wasn%26#39;t clear to me that there was access to the walk.

    Newport RI to do

any recommednations to do or just places to stroll? Should we take some kind of tour?

    Newport RI to do

    Hi Barb,

Depends on what month you plan on visiting. Newport is a very enjoyable summertime destination. There%26#39;s plenty to keep you occupied. The Cliff Walk is free and very enjoyable for a stroll (bring your camera). The mansions along Bellevue Avenue are always a top attraction for tourists. Strolling the shops along Thames Street is a nice way to spend some time. The nearby Bannister%26#39;s and Bowen%26#39;s Wharfs usually has some sort of hubbub going on. You can take a harbor cruise from there if you so choose. Another great way to see Newport is by renting Segways if that interests you.

    Newport RI to do

What sort of stuff interests you? The mansions are always a draw, they%26#39;ve mostly switched to audio tours so you can control how long you want to spend.

how long will you be here? And as Will mentioned, what time of year?

Thanks so much. We%26#39;re going next week. We are attending a wedding but will have soem free time during the day. The mansions are interewsting, I%26#39;m sure we won%26#39;t have time to do all. How about he winery? Any restaraunt recommendations?

Next week. Are there any particular mansions to ';not miss';? Also, what do you think or the winery? And good restaurants? Thanks for your help

Newport Vineyards %26amp; Winery is a beautiful little Vineyard with a friendly staff. If you%26#39;re a wine lover, by all means go. It%26#39;s located on Route 138 across from the Newport Airport in the town of Middletown. They have a store there if you decide to make some purchases.

As far as mansions are concerned, there are only 5 open for touring during your visit. The Breakers is the grandest and usually the one everyone wants to visit. Chateau-sur-Mer gets excellent reviews. The others open are Marble House, The Elms (the only one that allows indoor photos to be taken) and Rosecliff. I have only visited The Breakers and The Elms and found The Breakers to be quite grandiose. Maybe others can chime in on there faves, but if you can only visit one, my vote is for The Breakers.

There%26#39;s an old saying that if a restaurant isn%26#39;t good, it won%26#39;t stay open for very long. That is especially true in Newport. The competition is fierce in Newport when it comes to dining, and very few places get by on past reputation. I suggest you look at the ones I already mentioned and visit their websites. Make your decision based on what looks appealing to you.
